Interview with Myles, David, Ritchie & Jim. Ritchie: "...we were throwing out more songs than most groups write in a year." Myles: "We were writing too much... We didn't get the chance to perform half of it." Myles: "Our first album was just a horror story." AW planned to break up if "You Could Have Been A Lady" didn't do well. Ritchie said of the opening gig for Setvie Wonder: "Myles had gone and gotten drunk brfore the show...Myles went into his solos and just wouldn't stop." Myles: "...I thought I was going to be sick, so I took off the guitar and set it on the amp in front of me and just started making noises with it so I wouldn't have to play the thing." Stevie Wonder jammed with AW during the sound check.

The author states "Their first album, April Wine, is by far their poorest album. David Henman's songs sounded like Wishbone Ash during their Pilgrimage period and aren't very impressive. Jim Henman's songs were mostly acoustic and boring." David Henman is quoted as saying "Myles is a very strong talent, but he also has a very strong drive... Myles was never actually the leader, but his energy inspired the rest of the group to try to keep up with him." David and Ritchie split to form Silver. The Electric Jewels album contains tracks that sound "...like a Canadian Badfinger" and "... a Canadian Led Zeppelin." Weeping Widow is "...a great example of heavy metal chording in a pop framework.... reminiscent of Sweet."

AW bio. Stand Back is 1st Canadian English-language recording to go platinum. The Whole World's Goin' Crazy is the 1st Canadian album to ship platinum. Performed before 7200 people at Sudbury Arena, the largest audience there in 53 years. On 4/19/76 AW became the 1st band to sell out the Regina Stadium. First band to sell out the Kinsman Field House in Edmonton for 2 nights in a row. Myles was "...dubbed one of Canada's premier, all-around musical talents" by one critic.

Article: April Wine's First Glance Tour To Go Coast To Coast June 21st begins the First Glance tour. On July 4th AW will play Rich Stadium in Buffalo with the Rolling Stones, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Journey. All Canadian tour dates will feature Teaze.

AW sold out two out of three nights in St. Johns. The author states "...now their music concerns more juvenile love and teen-age violence mixed evenly with the old adult lament. Collectively this delivers a more commercial product, accessable to many......... Their music is pure pop rock, seemingly too packaged to be honest."

Reversing himself regarding his negative review in this same publication one year earlier, Meeker now says of the recent April Wine show at St. John's Memorial Stadium: "It was one of the best concerts that I have ever seen". He added "...I've never seen a light show nearly as stupendous as what April Wine used last week... It left me spellbound." Meeker also commented "The music was, in a word, superb."

Interview with Myles and Brian. Myles said "... the so-called grunge sound has become a lot more melodic this year. Very much like we sounded 10 years ago. I listen to bands like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden and think, yeah, that's us. That's what we do. I felt that way listening to Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun'." Brian compared the atmosphere within the band compared to pre-1984: "Myles is a lot easier to deal with now." Myles said "...this is our last chance and I'm not in a position to screw up again."

It's a Japanese release of "You Could Have Been A Lady" that apparently has a picture of The Troggs on it instead of April Wine. Also included in the magazine is a great review (also by Phil Ashcroft) of Carl Dixon's CD "One Voice, Two Hands" with a mention of him opening for April Wine at North American shows.
